Every year, more and more deforestation destroys the habitats of these small fishes. Already many species have been lost forever, some never to have been discovered and so we need to act quickly before they are all gone. These are very specialized fishes and only live in a few regions of the world. During the rainy season, these fishes hatch out of eggs laid the previous year. In just a few months, they grow up, lay eggs for the next year, and die. Their total lifespan is only a few months, from birth to death. If their habitat is destroyed, they will not hatch out and lay any more eggs. They will be extinct in that location. Most farmers do not know that these fishes exist because the water they live in completely dries up after a few months and so they were not aware that these fishes existed in that pool of water, so they fill the holes up with dirt and plant crops over it which destroys the habitat. They also add fertilizers and other chemicals to the water which also kills the fishes. It is important to find these fishes and their habitats as soon as possible and determine which ones have the potential to go extinct in the near future. I have personally seen the destruction of many of these habitats and there was nothing I could do about it. Therefore, it is necessary to find out where they exist during the rainy season and educate people about where they are found and protect them so this doesn't happen. Hopefully, Pato Prints will be able to help them. I am counting on you to help me protect these fishes for the future.
